Oliver,
Here is the material received from Chris.
Robert,
Can you put the material on Internet?
We are checking the rate with Linguanet and will confirm to Lara. Aidan
said they should pay it from their project's fund.
Nobody from the staff should translate it.

Dear Aidan,
There have been some changes to the commitment we have received from the ILO in relation to the funding for the global research project into atypical work in the media industry. The changes have meant that the first phase of work, the global survey of IFJ affiliates will be funded by the Sectorial section and needs to be finalised by the end of November.
The second and third phases should be funded jointly by ACTRAV and Sectorial activities and can be completed next year.
The timeline is at the bottom of this email and the final draft of the affiliates survey is attached. The survey has been put together with expertise and advice from ACIRRT, Australia's leading industrial relations' research centre who has extensive expertise researching this topic across other industries. We are aiming to have the first draft of the research ready to present to executive committee in December, with
the final draft to be submitted to the ILO on November 28.
Hence we are on a fairly tight deadline.
I would like you to have a look at the survey, if you have any comments or suggestions would you be able to send them to me by Monday September 26, this will give us two weeks to have it translated, laid up and built online.
Would you be able to organise with your staff to have one of them translate it into French, Spanish and, perhaps, Arabic? The attached covering letter to affiliates would also need to be translated. If this is not going to be possible, can you let me know as soon as possible so I can make other arrangements.
In order to stick with the timeline the survey needs to be sent out by Monday October 3, this gives one week for translation once we receive feedback from you.
As we know, sending out a survey is one thing. Getting responses something else again. It's designed to take no more than 15 minutes to complete and will be able to be filled in on line. But it's still going to need encouragement to get affiliates to actually do it. Perhaps we could have a phone hook up with you and your staff to talk about how everyone sees this working and get everyone committed to the project.
I'm on holidays in Sri Lanka until next Monday (I'm going to write to you separately about the terrific all-island meeting we had and a few other Sri Lankan things) but I'll be checking my emails every day or so.
best,
Chris
