Dear Colleagues,

How are you supporting the

Global Day of Action for Press Freedom in Nepal on August 30?

As a follow up to our call for your support and involvement in solidarity actions for the Global Day of Action for Press Freedom in Nepal on August 30, we would like you to let us know how you plan to participate.

Please send us an email by Monday August 29 at ifj@ifj-asia.org to let us know how you are supporting the Global Day of Action and what activities you will be involved in.

We want to keep up to date with what each organisation is doing and let other organisations know what is happening around the world to support press freedom in Nepal.

You may also wish to remind your colleagues to sign the online petition, everyone is welcome to sign it and we would like as many signatures as possible.

We have already outlined to you what you can do to help, including:

* Write a protest letter to King Gyanendra using the IFJ sample letter and deliver this to the Nepalese representative in your country

* Sign on to the petition at http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/622930457

* Include a link on your websites to the signature campaign.

* Email your network about the signature campaign

* Inform your local media contacts of the Global Day of Action and get them involved

* Organise and participate in the public rallies on August 30

* Organise a meeting with your Foreign Minister to brief them on the situation and what foreign governments can do (briefing notes can be provided).

The IFJ is currently finalising extra support articles for you to use including:

* An article for press publication in your country

* Notes about actions for the Global Day of Action on August 30

Please contact us at ifj@ifj-asia.org if you need further assistance with your plans for the Global Day of Action or require any more information.

Alternatively visit our website at http://www.ifj-asia.org/page/nepalcrisis.html

We thank you for your help in this matter, and look forward to seeing countries from around the world unite in this Global Day of Action for Press Freedom in Nepal on August 30, 2005.

Warm regards,
