Dear Colleagues,



As an addition to our letter to you about the Global Day of Action for Press Freedom in Nepal on August 30 we are sending you a sample letter to King Gyanendra and a copy of the supporting online petition at http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/622930457?ltl=1124160068.



HOW TO USE THE SAMPLE LETTER TO KING GYANENDRA

If you are planning to send a letter to King Gyanendra of Nepal using the sample letter provided please use it as follows:



* Insert the correct date and fill in your details at the end of the letter as outlined by the bold, uppercase text

* Deliver the letter either via email or to the Nepali Embassy in your country. Please forward it via email to press@ntc.net.np; info@hmgofnepal.gov.np

* Send a copy of your letter to ifj@ifj-asia.org and the Federation of Nepalese Journalists so we can inform others of your support for press freedom in Nepal.



Please feel free to use the letter in its current form or alter the text to include your own words.



HOW TO USE THE PETITION

If you would like to collect signatures for the campaign please use the petition form as provided.



* Print out hard copies of the petition for people to sign

* Signatures must include the date, name and contact details. Contact details may be an email address or telephone number or work or home address.

* All signatures must be collected by 31 August



Once you have finished collecting signatures for the campaign please send them as soon as possible to:

Collected signatures must be received by the FNJ no later than September 7, 2005. Thank you for your support of press freedom in Nepal.
